Subject: Mayoral Candidacy Announcement
Greetings,
It is with a bursting heart and abundant excitement that I declare my candidacy for the office of Mayor for the Town of Summerfield. The decision to enter this race does not come lightly and only after a great deal of thoughtful prayer.
My wife Brenda and I have lived here for twenty-five years and consider this our adopted hometown. I am a small business owner of an industrial supply company that services commercial and government accounts across North Carolina. Brenda retired at the end of 2024 after a career in purchasing. Back in 2000, we could have picked just about anywhere to live but because of the rural atmosphere, her low-density housing, limited government and low tax rate (zero at the time) we fell in love with Summerfield and decided this area would be the perfect area for us to settle down. So, we scrimped and saved and were able to buy our dream house in Trotter Ridge II, a tight knit neighborhood we like very much.
Over the past few years, acrimony and division has poisoned our community. I feel that there must be a way to bring opposing sides together so that we may concentrate on smart controlled growth that will continue to make Summerfield the best place to live in North Carolina.
Ultimately the reason I am running to become your mayor is, like you, I’ve grown weary of the rancor and division, the lawsuits and lawyer fees and the incivility of our otherwise friendly citizens towards one another. I feel it is time for a problem solver such as myself, with a fresh set of eyes, to delve into the inner workings of our town.
There are many challenges facing us and important decisions to be made. Should you entrust me with the honor of serving as your mayor, I will wrap my arms around our Town Council and strive for the unity that Summerfield and her citizens deserve.
