“One Down”

In a surprising turn of events this past week, University of Pennsylvania’s President, Liz Magill, resigned after she couldn’t say under questioning at a congressional hearing if students would be violating their code of conduct if they were to call for the genocide of Jews.
I say it’s surprising because usually woke minded people are immune from disciplinary action from bad behaviors that are directed at conservatives and/or God’s chosen people, the Jews.
In an attempt to defend her, Scott Bok,the chairman of the school’s board of trustees said this:
“Worn down by months of relentless external attacks, she was not herself last Tuesday,” Bok said. “Over prepared and over lawyered given the hostile forum and high stakes, she provided a legalistic answer to a moral question, and that was wrong. It made for a dreadful 30-second sound bite in what was more than five hours of testimony.”
Whatever. In my opinion not denouncing genocide in any circumstance disqualifies you from serving as President of the University of Pennsylvania.
But, as is usually the case, it comes down to money. A lot of it. To some donors, the pictures and videos of the murders of 1,200 Israelis are still fresh in their minds and many have threatened to withdraw donations. In this instance it was a $100 million gift that was in peril. If this wasn’t the case, chances are she would still be sitting pretty in that ivory tower.
Don’t shed a tear though for Ms. Magill. She will still be on their payroll as a faculty member and will most likely have her drinks bought for her by fellow liberals for the rest of her life who will consider her a sacrificial lamb, taking one for the team.
That’s one down though. I’ll take it.
