Her Life Mattered

In my last missive I posted a picture of a young lady who I thought had been set on fire and burned alive on a New York subway. As it turns out the image was a fake; manufactured and distributed by persons unknown in an effort to disseminate misinformation.
On one hand I am glad that the image was false. She looks like a sweet girl and I hope she is still alive and will live a long happy life. On the other hand, it is extremely distressing, because the body of the real victim was so badly burned, it took a week to identify the body.

The straphanger who was burned to death on a Brooklyn F train in a horrific attack has been identified as a 57-year-old New Jersey woman, police announced Tuesday.
Debrina Kawam of Toms River was sleeping on the train at the Stillwell Avenue-Coney Island station 7:30 a.m. on Dec. 22 when she was set on fire — with illegal Guatemalan immigrant Sebastian Zapeta-Calil now facing first degree murder charges in the sick attack.
Horrifying video footage shows the accused killer fanning the flames as Kawam was consumed by the flames — and calmly watching the scorched victim from a bench on the platform.
Kawam was identified through fingerprints, sources said.
A source also told The Post she was alive when she was set on fire, with a walker and several bags nearby.

NEW YORK — A grand jury has indicted the man accused of fatally setting a woman on fire in a New York City subway train, Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez announced.
Investigators said Sebastian Zapeta, 33, used a lighter to set the unidentified women’s clothes on fire as she slept inside a train car at the Coney Island-Stillwell Avenue station on Dec. 22.
Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials said Zapeta entered the U.S. illegally from Guatemala in 2018 and was deported, but he reentered sometime afterwards.
“Her life mattered. Thank God they caught the person that did this. But it’s not just the person’s fault. It’s the system’s fault. The system failed,” Rev. Kevin McCall said. “Homeless lives matter. She was burned up so bad the police could not even identify who she is.”
Questions;
- Who has so much time on their hands that it would enable them to create a false flyer of a burn victim and then disseminate it in the social media universe? For what purpose?
- What was this piece of garbage doing in our country? If the immigration laws had been followed, he would have been causing havoc in his own country of Guatemala, not here.
- Why has Joe Biden not been arrested for aiding and abetting in this brutal crime? If not for his lax enforcement and open border policies this woman would most probably still be alive. It’s as if he pulled out a lighter and lit her on fire himself.
This was a horrible way to die. I hope this poor wanderer has found a home and her soul is at peace with God’s arms wrapped around her.
“Her life mattered”.
Yes, it did.
